Crushed Garlic Potatoes with Saucy Tomato

“Make these potatoes as crispy and salty as you like!

Servings: 1-2 Servings



  • 8 Baby white potatoes
  • 4-6 Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 3/4 Cup of dried Italian herbs
  • 6 Tbs Olive oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Spice Girlz Saucy Tomato to serve


  1. Boil potatoes until tender on medium-high heat.
  2. In a jug add oil, Italian herbs, salt, pepper and minced garlic. Stir and set aside. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  3. Drain the potatoes.
  4. Cover an oven tray with baking paper and place potatoes on top.
  5. Using the bottom of a glass cup, gently smash potatoes.
  6. Spoon the garlic mixture over the potatoes, drizzling more oil onto if needed.
  7. Bake in oven for 20-30mins or until golden and beautifully crispy.

Serve with Spice Girlz Saucy Tomato for a hint of chilli.

Jamato Veggie Cakes

Servings: 8



  • 300g pumpkin, diced and peeled
  • olive oil
  • 2 tbs Spice Girlz Jamato
  • 2 tbs rice flour
  • ½ cup tinned cannellini beans
  • 2 tbs chopped walnuts
  • 1 tbs coriander, chopped
  • 1 tbs mint, chopped
  • 1 spring onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • sesame or nigella seeds



  1. Preheat oven to 180℃.
  2. Line an oven tray with baking paper. Place pumpkin on tray and lightly drizzle with olive oil. Roast for approximately 20 minutes or until very soft then leave cooked pumpkin to cool in a bowl.
  3. Combine the roasted pumpkin Spice Girlz Jamato, rice flour, beans, walnuts, spring onion, coriander and mint.
  4. Add the beaten egg to the mixture and combine, mashing well. If the mixture is a little wet, add a bit more rice flour.
  5. Once mixture is well combined and firm enough to hold its shape, cover and chill for 10 minutes.
  6. With wet hands, roll the mixture into 8 balls. Flatten slightly and press onto a plate of sesame or nigella seeds to coat both sides.
  7. Place the patties onto a tray and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until firm and lightly coloured.

Jamato Veggies Cakes can be served either as a main course with an avocado, mint and yoghurt salad, as part of a platter or as a delicious appetiser.

Potato Puffs

“Forgot those boring old pies and pasties… Potato Puffs are the ultimate party starter!


Prep Time: 10 mins

Cook Time: 20-30 mins

Skill Level: Beginner

Servings: 12 small pieces



  • 3 slices sandwich bread, buttered
  • 1 cup mashed potato
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1-2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 1-2 bacon rashers chopped (optional or no meat alternative)
  • Your choice of Spice Girlz Jamato, Hakuna Matata, Zulu-Lu or Saucy Tomato



  1. Preheat oven to 190℃.
  2. Butter the bread lightly and evenly. Cut off the crusts and then cut each slice into 4 small squares.
  3. Press the squares into patty pans, buttered side down.
  4. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potato, grated cheese, beaten egg, chopped onion and chopped bacon. Note: you can choose to add 2 level tbsp of Spice Girlz product now into the potato mixture, or you can save it to dollop on top of each Potto Puff just before serving.
  5. Spoon the potato mixture evenly between the patty pans.
  6. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until golden on top.

Kids love Potato Puffs! Recipe can be tripled and frozen if desired.

Pizza Pinwheels

Servings: 15 small pieces



  • 1 sheet thawed puff pastry
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Spice Girlz Moroccan Jam
  • 1 small red capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped ham or bacon pieces
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1 beaten egg



  1. Spread Moroccan Jam over 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry, leaving a 2cm edge on one side.
  2. Evenly spread the chopped capsicum, ham/bacon pieces and grated cheese over the puff pastry, leaving the same 2cm edge.
  3. Brush the beaten egg along the 2cm edge of the puff pastry and then working from the opposite end, roll up the pastry like a Swiss roll.
  4. Using a sharp knife, slice the pastry into 1.5cm slices.
  5. Arrange each roll, facing upwards, onto a lined baking tray and bake in a hot oven (180 degrees) for approximately 10 minutes or until golden.

This recipe is equally delicious using Spice Girlz Jamato, Hakuna Matata or Moroccan Jam. Extra ingredients could also include finely sliced olives, sundried tomato or diced mushrooms.
